You will need the following Ingredients:
1/2 pound raw mung beans, soak these in water for half a day before cooking
4 cups water
1 tablespoon patis – fish sauce
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 pound boneless pork meat, cut into cubes
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 small tomato, cut
2 Knorr pork cubes
1/2 pound fresh malunggay leaves (alugbati or spinach leaves will also do)
Directions for cooking:
1. Rinse the mung beans until water is clear, discard of the water. Cook the mung beans using 4 cups of water and bring to a boil in a pot. Cooking takes about 45 minutes at the most. The mung beans will be soft and appear to have burst just like pop corn.
2. Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan and in it sauté the onion for 3-5 minutes. Add the pork and season with salt and pepper and a tablespoon of patis. Fry the pork with the onions and garlic for another 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes more.
3. Add the meat, tomatoes, onions and garlic into the mung beans soup, mix well. Cook another 15 minutes. Add Knorr pork cubes and the malunggay leaves and cook for 5 minutes more before serving hot.
