With the diseases that have emerged during the last two decades, people are getting more self-conscious about health. There are many antiseptic alcohol brands that you see in supermarkets and drug stores these days. Alcohol works as antiseptic by means of protein coagulation to inhibit the growth and reproduction of microorganisms. But which of the brand names that are currently in the market should you choose? I will site a few products that I have actually tried and tested.
Antiseptic Alcohol Brands
Family Rubbing Alcohol
This is the alcohol brand that my mother used to purchase when I was younger (1990’s). Do you still remember its TV advertisement? Its tag line was “Di lang pang-pamilya, pang-sports pa!” (Not only for the family, for sports too!) True. Our whole family used this antiseptic alcohol brand for several years and we would often pack it in our bags during our sports activities. But back then it did not come with moisturizer, making our skin somewhat dry whenever we used it continuously.
Johnson’s Band Aid Brand Isopropyl Alcohol
I particularly like the scent of this alcohol antiseptic. It comes in several bottle sizes of 70% isopropyl alcohol. The solution somehow has a drying effect with continued use. But the scent (not too strong) and its affordability more than make up it.
Green Cross Alcohol
The Green Cross brand has probably the widest range of antiseptic alcohol products to choose from. They have isopropyl (40% and 70%) and ethyl (70%) alcohol that comes in different bottle sizes. They also have alcohol with moisturizer. Now, Green Cross is also available in hand sanitizing gel which I like because it’s non-messy – no pouring, just squeezing unto your palm and voila! Goodbye germs!
Casino Ethyl Alcohol
Casino is 70% ethyl alcohol available in two variants, Regular and Femme. It is used as an alcohol antiseptic and has a great scent. This is ideal for massaging. The Femme variant has a feminine scent and cooling effect when applied on skin. What is great about Casino Ethyl Alcohol is its moisturizing property. It is not that expensive either. The Femme variant is my favourite, though it does not come in smaller sizes.
Biogenic is one of the cheapest alcohol antiseptic brands in the market today. It is worth purchasing as alternative to expensive alcohol brands. What most people love about this hand sanitizer is its scent. It does not smell like a hospital would. The scent is more like a cologne. Plus, it is also available in bottle spray so no pouring needed. I remember seeing the large bottle sprays in hospitals. Biogenic is available in isopropyl and ethyl alcohol (70%).
These brands have been proven effective. It is up to you to choose which one to use according to your needs. But as with all other alcohol brands, you must remember that antiseptic alcohol is for external use only. These are the common warnings for Antiseptic alcohol: Do not ingest. If product gets into eyes, rinse with water and seek consult if irritation persists. Alcohol is highly flammable so keep it away from any source of fire. Most importantly, keep it away from children.
